Shit that's cold
My rental wetsuit came in the mail a couple of days ago, and today was the first day that I was actually able to get out in the open water for a test. When we left the boat launch the water temp was 65 degrees. After multiple rain showers, the water temp a half mile from the boat launch had dropped to 58 degrees. I was horribly unprepared for swimming in cold water. I swam for about two minutes, but the cold had made my lungs clamp down so hard I could barely breath. I made it a whole 75 yards and had to stop. It's disappointing, but I'm glad it happened. I've done some research tonight on cold water swimming, and now know what to practice tomorrow.

ReplyDeleteNice Marty. How thick is the suit? Good luck on Sunday. I think the adrenaline of a race should help the swim. I've got an OD tri on Sat. Water temp about 85 F. I'll probably swim through a box jelly fish though.
